We're just wrapping up our first week in gSchool and it's already a rich experience. Our first day we did improv all day, which was a great way to get to know each other and learn more about interpersonal communication. I was afraid it was going to be small groups performing in front of everyone, and there was a little of that, but mostly it was 1-on-1 exercises so it wasn't tooembarrassing.
We've already started coding by jumping into some pretty intense projects, like building a twitter client app where we sent tweets and direct messages from the console. We worked in pairs for which I was very grateful, I don't think I could have worked through it nearly quickly enough on my own. Even working in pairs, we had to ask others for help at times. I've been really impressed with how helpful the other students are, everyone seems really happy to help others.
I expected the first week to be a 'wash' but we already have some homework and projects to work on before next week. We're getting a taste of what's to come over the next six months, and so far I'm very happy with the curriculum and instruction styles. I cannot imagine another program being a better fit for me, and I'm excited about what's to come!
